I volunteered to teach a class in an after-school center in East Harlem, NY called “The Friendly Place”. I knew the director and she asked me to give a lesson. The sign in front said “Mr. Perna Will Teach How to Draw Spiderman.” 25 kids attended and when they saw I was 12 they laughed. I showed them a Spiderman poster I had drawn and they all grabbed a pencil and paper and sat down. A few hours later 25 kids and made some excellent progress. It was very satisfying.
